How do I make Word my default wordprocessor?

I have Works and Word on this computer and right now Works Word Processor is
the default Program. I want to make Word the default program for word
processing, so I can just click a file and have it open in Word.
 
You need to change your file extensions to make sure that Word opens your
..doc files.
 
See if going to Start/Run and running the following command rectifies
the issue:

winword /r

Note the space before the forward slash.
