I am creating a how-to book as a gift for someone. I want to know how I can
use entire pages, (such as an internet page or another program window,) to be
placed onto a word document as an image. [I am operating on a Windows XP with
Microsoft Word 2003.]

What you want to do is called "screen capture".

The cheap-but-difficult way is to open the window that you want a picture of and
press Alt+PrintScreen. That puts the contents of the window on the clipboard as
a picture. Open the Paint program that comes with Windows, and paste. Then use
the cropping tool and other tools to get just what you want, and save it as a
..jpg file. Then you can use the Insert > Picture > From File command in Word.

To make like simpler, get SnagIt from www.techsmith.com (there's a free trial
download). That will let you select just the piece of the screen you want and
save it directly to a file. It will also scroll to capture an entire page that
doesn't all fit on the screen at once, and lots of other neat tricks.

Thanks so much for your advice!
