I am working on a presentation with a table of contents and linking a few
different powerpoint presentations together. Is there a way that after I
click on the slide and go to the next one, the previous slide dissapears?

That's typically how PowerPoint works. (Well, the menu slide would still be
open, but the new presentation should open on top of it, so it's not visible
until you close the new presentation.)

What is happening on your end?

I am wanting the numbers for each category to drop off once they have been
selected. For example someone picks history Question 2. Once this has been
marked, I want the round circle and number to go away. How do I do that?

(I am trying to put a game together for a meeting)

If you add an exit animation triggered by a click on itself it should do this

Yeah, what John said -- use trigger animations.

http://www.echosvoice.com/triggers.htm should help get you started with
triggers.
