How do I maintain good performance on my PC?

Well, after time it seems like most PC's start to have worse and worse
performance levels. This happened with my last PC. I recently bought a new PC
and would like to maintain good-high performance levels for as long as
possible. How would I do this? If you need more info, please ask.

It should keep working. You're probably getting it gunked up with
malware.

Don't install stuff you don't need
Don't install 20 million fonts

Don't have lots of programs that run at startup (usually indicated by
items in tasktray - lower right corner of screen) - ie, messengers, auto
updaters, etc.

Surf carefully

regularly run spybot and or adaware, defrag your disks when needed, run disk
clean up regularly - all of those should help too
