how do i maintain appointments so i can see them on the calendar?

In Outllook 2000 i could enter and maintain appointments on the calendar but
in Outllook 2003 the appointment disappears leaving a blank calendar. How do
I retain the appointments on the calendar?

More detail about what you're doing and seeing is required, as this is not standard behavior in
Outlook 2003.

I am trying to use the outlook calendar in the same way I would use a paper
calender. On a paper calender i enter appointments and keep the calendar
visible so i can better manage my time. But now when i click on a day in the
montly calender view I can enter the appointment but it disappears when a
click on another day. When I use the drop down menue to make a new
appointment it does not show up on my montly calendar. Is this sufficient
detail about what i am doing and seeing?
