how do I know if beta?

I purchased two HP desktops in March of '07, both with duo core 2
processors, 2G ram, and 32 bit Windows Vista Home Premium as op systems.
Here's my problem -

One of the machines has had a number of issues, and finally I thought I'd go
back to the "check for problems and solutions" for any new insight. The new
solution read something like this: "You are using a beta version of Windows
Vista that Microsoft Corporation no longer supports. Please visit the
following website to learn how to acquire the lates retail version of
Windows Vista. (microsoft.com)"

There is no indication that the op sys is any sort of beta incarnation on
the system profile of the machine. HP says it isn't beta. So what gives?
I mean, I do want to address the issue if Microsoft can't service some of
the core code of my opp sys via updates and sp's - which, by the way, are
all up-to-date... HP has shipped me new recovery discs that will supposedly
fix this, but won't they just load the same op sys I have now? Thanks in
advance for any help you might provide. Rob - LSHD

Hi,

The error message, laughingly enough, is in error. This is a known issue and
you should ignore it. As the system is less than a year old, your warranty
with HP should still be in effect. Use it to have them correct any issues.

If I were you, I would use the recovery discs sent to you by HP. There could
have been an error in manufacturing originally..

Thank you Rick! If only you were a Media Center Extender expert, my woes
could be totally addressed... My discs from HP should be here Monday, I will
keep my fingers crossed that the bugs clear-up.
