How do I keep the original date on a memo from changing to curren

In Word 2000, how do I pull an old memo and keep the original date. When I
pull up a previous memo the date shows today's date - and it was written
months ago.

Change the date field { DATE } to a create date field { CreateDate } in the
template or insert the date in your document as a date stamp vice date field
(i.e., uncheck Insert>Date and Time>Update automatically)
