How do I keep Outlook running?

I have several application shortcuts stored in my "quick launch" bar. One of
these is a shortcut to Outlook 2003, and another shortcut takes me to my PC's
desktop.

If I have Outlook running, and then select the Desktop shortcut, Outlook
closes. This is annoying.

If I have Outlook running, and choose another shortcut (example: Excel),
Outlook does not close.

Bottom line: I'd like for Outlook to continue running when I click the
Desktop shortcut in the quick launch bar. Suggestions?? Thanks.

Outlook 2003 might not be exiting like you think. When you minimize Outlook
2003, is the icon still present next to the clock in the lower right hand
part of your screen? If yes, the option is on to hide Outlook's interface
when minimized. Just right click on that icon next to the clock and then
select "Hide when minimized" to toggle the setting on/off.

The Show Desktop shortcut in the Quicklaunch toolbar merely minimizes the
windows for all applications. For some applications, minimizing them
doesn't leave a taskbar button but instead leaves a tray icon, so look in
the tray area to see if there is an icon for OL2003.

Clicking on another shortcut, whether in the Quicklaunch toolbar or
elsewhere, merely opens another program but it doesn't minimize any windows
for other programs.
