How do I keep outlook online when working from home?

When I log in at home on my work computer, outlook 2003 comes up offline even
though I'm VPN'd into my work network. How can I get it to be online at all
times?

Uncheck File>Work Offline, perhaps?

Down in the lower right, in the status bar, does it say "Connected"? There
should be a down-arrow to the right of whatever it says. Click that arrow.
Is there a "Work Offline" checked there?

It's been a long time since I used a VPN. Check the configuration of the
VPN
on the home computer and uncheck the box that says to use the gateway on
the remote network.
