when trying to send an e-mail using outlook 2003 a window opens headed
Microsoft Word and stating "interface not registered" and I am unable to send
the e-mail. What has to be done (and how) to restore an ability to send
e-mails using word as the editor.

Try this:

START-RUN-regsvr32 ole32.dll

Let us know if it works.

I manually registered OLE32.DLL and MSRDO20.DLL, but this only temporarily
fixes the problem, error will reoccurr a few days later. It happens so often
now that I created a batch file to reregister the DLL's every time the error
occurs.

Is there any other way to resolve this error? I've even uninstalled and
then reinstalled Office 2003. This is becoming a big problem at the office
where it's now occurring on several systems. I need a perminent fix.

Thanks for your advice, although your information was related to Office 2002, but it lead me to Article 555481 from Microsoft.com and their information was for Ofiice 2003 and Outlook 2003 which gave a similar register file to the one you sent to me, with just a slight variation that worked for me.
It was - from Start/Run "RegSvr32 OLE32.DLL and RegSvr32 MSRDO20.DLL" and my
e-mail is now working though another response warned me it may revert in a
few days. Again many thanks from Australia.

Repeating the previous post is not helpful. As I already stated,
reregistering the DLL's is only a temporary fix and the error returns a few
days later.
