How do I install a HD w/win98 in new system w/WinXp?

One other thing, the HD is recognised in XP and I can get to the info so I
know the HD is fine there is just no power to the 98 system possibly a power
supply or a motherboard error I don't know. But even using only the power
cord and nothing else attached the the system, I get no indications of power
which leads me to believe it is the power supply. Again I thank you for your
help.

I understand the need for different drivers. What I don't understand is why
you think it will not read the windows that is installed on the system.

Your reply implies that as the OP I have no knowledge of computers. I
contacted this line of questioning in order to get help not to be insulted. I
have been at a funeral and unable to reply. I believe you need to be cautious
about your comments. I have been a trouble shooter for computers in the past
and understand that sometimes it is annoying, but never-the-less the customer
of the OP as you refer to them is asking for help. I appreciate your replying
and trying to help though.

Well, as far as dual booting goes, take a look at
this: http://gag.sourceforge.net

Sometimes new hard drives don't play nice with
older drives on the same cable so you may
want to have on the cable with the CD drive
instead.

Another alternative is to poke about your local
Craigslist for an older PC -- you might get one
very cheap and just a little bit newer than your
old one but which will gracefully accept your
drive. It'll likely be far easier to find all the basic
Win98 drivers for is than with a new PC, which
can be done, but increasingly requires an awful
lot of detective work (for Dells, often Intel has
all the drivers you need.) You can then get a
cheap 2-way KVM switch to access it or else
set it up to run UltraVNC so you can remote
control it from your new PC (use Tweakui
to have it automatically self-login on startup.)

Hope this helps.

This thread appears to have gone off the rails, with some
of your responses (such as the one below) appearing in
the wrong branch, making the whole thing rather confusing.
If you're still interested in resolving this issue then I suggest
you start again.

I have the XP system reading both drives, but as you say, when I try to run
the programs they are looking for the files that are on win98 HD. How do I
set them to look for the files on Drive E which is the 98 drive?
