How do I insert a dot leader or "tab leader" ?

Hi, I used to be able to insert a dot leader (the little dots in a table of
contents between the descriptive words and the page numbers). I used to go to
Format, Paragraph, Tabs, Leaders, and click on #2, which would then insert
them.

Now in XP, apparently the geniuses at Microsoft think that a dot LEADER is
supposed to LEAD the sentence, because I can only get XP to insert the dots
at the beginning of the line and only lines that have a tab at the beginning,
not at the end where the page numbers are.

Does anyone know a solution for this? Am I doing something wrong?

The behavior of tab leaders has not changed. Are you sure you applied the
leader to the correct tab stop?
