how do I import alpha/numeric data from a delimited text file?

I am still having problems importing an alpha/numeric data field into an
existing table. The numeric cells import but the alpha/numeric do not. The
table cells are blank and an error table is created which slowly increases
the size of the database (not what I want to do). The data comes from the ^
delimited text file into an access table and then some of the columns are
moved to a final access table which is used for processing/delivering the
data to user. The column in both tables are set to text.

If anyone has suggestions, it will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it's trying to put the alphaumeric data into a numeric field at
some point... you say that the columns in both tables are set to text - is
the import using a saved import specification, or is it being done in VBA
code? If the former, then maybe the import specification still says that the
field is text, even though it's been subsequently changed in the target table?
