how do I import a .pst file into outlook 2007

I am trying to import a .pst file into my inbox. I am running small business
server 2003 on a brand new dell. I have downloaded the office 2007
professional edition but have not yet decided to buy. When I try to do a
file->import, that option is not available. When I try to turn off logging,
as suggested by another user, I go tools->options, but options are not
available either. Is it not possible to import from a .pst if I haven't
bought it yet, if so, why in the world would I test it? I need old and new
messages and addresses to test it.

Another user suggested copying the files across to my current inbox from the
..pst file. I see no way to copy, but would love some input on that.

Importing a pst is never the way to go, within OL open the pst & set it as
the default if you so wish

Don't. Open it. File>Open>Outlook Data File. Then copy the data from its
folders to your default ones.

Brian:

You've been very consistent in advising against the Import of
the PST.

I was merely wondering why that is the case?

BTW: Still can't have more than 2 PST open ??

PST Import doesn't work well. It's half-broken and completely
unnecessary when you can just open the file directly.

On behalf of Brian and the Outlook MVPs:

Importing breaks:
Custom forms
Distribution lists
Connections between Contact and Birthdays in Calendar
Connection between Contacts and activities.
Received date on emails
etc.

"Still"?

I don't remember there ever being a limitation on the number of PSTs you can
have open.

I've had more than 2 open in OL2k3 and 2k7.
