If you delete your TIF or if internet explorer clears this folder on exit
the cookie the site is deleted so it will no longer remember you.

This is incorrect on two counts:
1. Windows saves user IDs and passwords in the registry or in a special
file, not in cookies.
2. Cookies are not in the TIF folder and are not removed when it is
cleared.

MAP,
If you are using a spyware or pop-up blocker program, it might have a feature that will clear out the Temporary Internet File and Cookies files, either as a regularly schedule task, and/or when IE (browser) is closed. You will need to check those programs and change their settings.

Also in IE> TOOLS> Internet Options> Advance tab> Uncheck Clear Temporary files when browser is closed (near the bottom of list).

Also you can try clearing the AutoComplete settings in IE. Reboot PC> then recheck these settings.
In IE> TOOLS> Internet Options> Content tab> AutoComplete> Settings buttons.

Gary,
Website userid/password information, are often stored in the form of cookies. And some of those sites place the file in the TIF folder on your PC, depending on version of IE you are using.

Some web sites may store userd IDs and passwords in cookies, but the
question was about passwords remembered by IE itself. Those are never
stored in cookies. Web sites have no control over the location where
cookies are stored -- that's entirely up to the browser, and IE always
stores them in a folder designed specifically for that purpose. To put
them in the TIF would expose them to loss at unpredicatble times.
