How do I get the mark on the Inbox showing I've already replied

In OUtlook Express, there was a marking on a note in your Inbox when you had
repleid to a message.

In Outlook 2003, I have to go to the Sent box to see if I've already repleid
to a message or not. Too much trouble.

Shouldn't there be a column by Importance and Header Status and Flag Staus?

Normally there's a change in the icon, the envelope beside an email will have
an arrow on it to indicate if it's been replied to or forwarded.
 
THe envelope icon does change in accounts other than Hotmail. BUt in Hotmail
(my default account) there is no change in the envelope icon after I send a
reply.
