How do I get the favicon to work?

I did what I had to do, placing the 16 X 16 pixel favicon in my website's
root directory. I called it favicon.ico. (Should I have called it
favicon.ico.htm?)

I then pasted - link rel="shortcut icon"
href="http://www.hairloss-reversible.com/favicon.ico" and also link
rel="icon" href="http://www.hairloss-reversible.com/favicon.ico"
into the head of my home page.

Nothing happens. My favicon does not show up anywhere.

Is it a valid .ico file??
Also it needs to be a double .ico file, in other words a 16 by 16 and a 32
by 32 embedded together.

You can do this with the free LiquidIconXP:
http://www.x2studios.com/index.php?page=products&id=11

Which wil also create a "valid" .ico file.

If it is a valid .ico file

Replace
<link rel="shortcut icon" href=http://www.hairloss-reversible.com/favicon.ico">
<link rel="icon" href="http://www.hairloss-reversible.com/favicon.ico" />

With just
<link rel="shortcut icon" href=http://www.hairloss-reversible.com/favicon.ico" />

You won't see it unless you delete you current bookmarks to that site and your browser cache
