How do I get text to show on a PPT slide with animated background?

I am using an animation that fills the whole slide, but when I add text or
pictures to the slide and try to play back the slide show, only the animation
shows up--no text hits the screen. What am I doing wrong?

I'm using PowerPoint 2003.
 
Yes...it is an animated Digital Juice background slide. The file has an
".avi" ending.
 
avi's in Powerpoint play in front of everything except some activX objects.
Austin has a method of using activX text boxes for basic subtitles OR you may
be able to edit the text into the movie see here (there's a link to Austin's
method there too)
