how do i get rid of outline round linked excel data

I have linked data from an Excel cell into Powerpoint, but I don't want the
grey outline to appear. How do I remove it?

Do you mean the gridlines between cells?

If so, doubleclick the data in PPT to activate Excel.
In Excel choose Tools, Options, go to the View tab and remove the checkmark
next to "Gridlines"
