How do I get rid of ABetterInternet?????!!!!????

G

Greg Tilford

Hi,
I've tried everything I can find to get rid of the
ABetterInternet and ShotAtHome spyware from my system and
nothing seems to work. An earlier post suggested using
Nailfix, edwido and CCleaner. I did this and the system
scanned clean, but now both are back. Suggestions?

Thanks,

I appreciate your comment about turning off system
restore but this cannot re-infect a machine unless the
restore is used. I used to use that method myself then
saw some people remove essential files in the clean up by
mistake and the restore had been disabled so they had big
problems and it meant doing a repair install of windows.

Now I always like to leave the restore alone untill the
system is clean because its better to have a infected
restore than no restore points if things go wrong, Its
easier to just get the system clean then goto Start >
Help and support > then undo changes using system restore
Create a new restore point once everything has been
removed then close the system restore screen.

Then open cleanmgr > Start > run and type cleanmgr > then
goto the more options tab and press cleanup on the system
restore area to remove all the restore points except the
one you just created

This way leaves no chances of anything going wrong and
still always gives you a restore point to return to if
mistakes are made .

I have had the same problem. My spyware is addressed
ABetter Internet.Aurora.Adware. It embeds in the Windows
program files with a file name called nail. Please e-mail
me if you have a solution.
