how do I get old emails downloaded from an image file?

I have an image file containing my old emails. I need to import the emails
to my current installation of outlook. When I go through the procedure for
opening the file, Outlook tells me to save the file, but then wont let me.

If you have a copy of a *.pst file on some sort of medium, you need to
transfer it onto your hard drive and remove the read only attribute, if one
is set. Then, you should be able to open the file in your current Outlook
installation.
