How do I get my defragmenter back?

I know that the XP defragmenter is a form of Diskeeper, but I decided to
demo the full product. At the end of the demo period, I wanted to use my
built-in defragmenter again, but when I go to it under Accessories, System
Tools, it pulls up the "full" Diskeeper program which won't work because the
demo is over. How do I get my regular defragmenter back? Do I have to
uninstall the demo?

Perform the following:

1. Right-click on your Desktop and select: NEW > SHORTCUT
2. In the Create Shortcut window, type in: %SystemRoot%\System32\dfrg.msc , and click "Next"
3. In the next window, type in: Disk Defragmenter , and click "Finish"
4. A Disk Defragmenter shortcut icon will appear on your Desktop.

Perfect, thanks!

That is very annoying, though, that Diskeeper would take over the standard
short-cut.

I just tried using the shortcut I created, but it just takes me to the same
Diskeeper trial version, and won't let me defragment unless I buy the
product. Has the demo actually *replaced* the built-in version?

It is incorrect that the inbuilt program is a 'lite' Diskeeper.
Executive Software who wrote Diskeeper had input to the deign, but they
are different programs. Installation of Diskeeper will have inhibited
the inbuilt program from running, but ,If you uninstall it, properly,
the inbuilt service ought to reappear.

Thanks, that did it!

I still don't like the fact that Diskeeper "took over" my built-in
application's shortcut. Reminds me of Real Player.
