how do i get after previous to work consistently in Powerpoint

In some Powerpoint presentations the "after Previous" function works
flawlessly. In some of the others I can't get it to work at all. What's wrong?
 
Sorry but you haven't given us enough information. Which version of PPT?
When you say they don't work what do you mean? Very difficult to see your
monitor from here. <g>
