How do I get access to my hotmail account?

So in order to use my hotmail account via Outlook I have to pay? Is Yahoo
and/or gmail free to use via Outlook?
 
Yes on hotmail. No, Yahoo is not free if you want to use it in outlook.
Gmail is however.
 
If I upgrade my hotmail account for the $20, how do I get directions to have
it accessible via Outlook?
 
the $20 version uses HTTP access. Add a new account to outlook and use the
http acct type.
