Access How Do I Get Access to Calculate a Date?

I have a training database. Column 1 is Personnel and the rest of the columns are the different training sessions. In the cells I have entered the date the person was trained...now I want Access to calculate the date that the next training is due...for example...

Sgt. May had LOAC training 8/1/2005. He will be due for training again in 45 months. What is that date?

I've been trying DateAdd("m",45,[LOAC]) but it isn't working...thoughts?
