Ok installed 1GB dual channel kit memory (2x512MB). How do i find out if I'm
running in dual channel memory mode? the motherboard bios does not display
wether it's in dual channel mode but. My motherboard support dual channel.
Are there any free software that check if it's running on Dual Channel mode?

If your cpu supports hyperthreading and it shows it is working when you boot
then your memeory is working ok; hyperthreading won't work unless memory -
is dual channel.

Another thing you can try is open the Task Manager and click on the
Performance tab and if there's 2 little graph windows then you know it's
working :). If not, you'll probably have to reseat the ram on the
motherboard. My mobo have different slots letting you know where they
should go.

CPU-Z will give you this information along with a bunch of other useful
information. The home page is http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php .

Ok..what does those 2 windows mean? I was told it was for dual processors
or dual ram.

No that's after the fact. Your XP can be running without hyperthreading,
and RAM in dual channel mode.

I tried the CPU-Z, i don't know exactly how good this software is but i have
2x256MB dual channel memory on socket 1, 3 and I added the new 2x512MB dual
channel memory on socke 2, 4 and CPU-Z shows that I'm running on dual channel
mode. wow is that even right, now i have 1.5GB.

my previous setup was that i remove the 2x256mb dual channel memory and
replace it with 2x512mb dual channel memory.

My motherboard tells me at boot up if the memory is running in
dual-channel mode and the speed. The results in CPU-Z were the same. I
have 2x512 MB memory in socket 1 & 3 and 2x1024 MB memory in sockets 2 &
4 in my system for a total of 3 GB. It is all running in dual channel
mode at 400 MHz so I am happy.
