How do I find emails sent to a personal folder?

I highlighed several emals. Then I chose move to personal folders. I did
not specify what folders to move them to, but I sent them. They disappeared
from my screen and I can't seem to find them anywhere. Where should I look?
What program format will open them when I find them?
