I want to remove all underlining and boldface that appears in a WORD document
without finding and editing each individual instance.

1. Ctrl+H to open the Replace dialog.

2. In the (empty) "Find what" box, press Ctrl+B and Ctrl+U You'll see
"Format: Font: Bold, Underline."

3. In the (empty) "Replace with" box, press Ctrl+B and Ctrl+U *twice*.
You'll see "Format: Font: Not Bold, No underline."

4. Replace All.

Use the replace function. You can toggle through the bold and/or underline
settings while the cursor is in the find or replace boxes with CTRL+B and
CTRL+U
Replace font bold with font not bold, font underline with font no underline.
Leave the text boxes empty.

If you also want to do away with Bold that's not underlined and
Underline that's not bold, you'll have to do this as two separate Find/
Replace operations, one for Bold and one for Underline.

Indeed; I may well have misread the OP.
