How do I fill in a contract number on multiple pages of a standar.

I have a standard contract document with multiple exhibits. Each exhibit
must reflect the contract number in the header. Can someone fill me in on
how to go about doing this. I have an idea that Fields are involved but I'm
having trouble firguring out how to do it.
