Hello. I know I can export my entire Contacts folder of addresses to an Excel
file but does anyone know how to export ONLY one individual distribution list
to Excel?

Open the DL and choose File>Save As. Choose the "Text Only (.txt)" file
type. Give it a name and click OK. This creates a Tab Separated Values
file that Excel can read. Start Excel, click FIle>Open. Select the file
type "Text Files (*.prn; *.txt; *.csv)", browse to and select the file you
saved, and click Open. The "Text Import Wizard" will appear. In the "Start
import at" drop-down, change the value to "7" (or wherever the first row of
your names start), and click Finish.

I'm trying to upload a distro list to GMail. I've followed steps below and
saved out the file as various csv files but GMail rejects them as not
recognized.

If I make a "test" file by exporting all contacts from Outlook 2003 to a csv
file - it works fine.

So how do I get the contents of a distro list in a csv format that works?

Save the DL as a text file, which will be a tab-separated values file. Open
that file in Excel and save it as a comma-separated values file. Then use
that with gmail.

What most people don't mention is, row 1 needs to be the header row. Gmail only recognizes certain values, so typically you will have first and last name as the first column, and the email address as the 2nd column. Do not leave those values as the default... rename the name column to "name" and the email column as "email", and that should work. Rows 2 and beyond will be the actual data.
