How do I do "keep together" space

How do I do "keep together" space to keep a month+day (January 5) from
breaking across two lines of a paragraph?
 
It's called a non-breaking space. Insert | Symbol, Special Characters will
let you insert it, and show you the keyboard shortcut for it and many other
useful similar characters.
