Hi,

My OS is WinXP SP1.

I need to update the firmware of a Sony DRU-500A DVD drive.

The instructions say I am to "disable the DMA setting in Windows" before
executing the firmware update.

Please tell me how to disable the DMA setting of the DVD drive.

Many thanks

Rex.

Open "My Computer" right click on the DVD drive and select
properties. and u should have a setting in the dialog
that says "enable or disable DMA"

Hi, Rex.

Use Device Manager, as in previous Windows versions, but with a little
twist. You probably will need to make the settings on the Advanced tab for
the IDE controller, rather than for the drive itself.

Quickest way to the Device Manager: press Win+Break | Hardware | Device
Manager.
