How do I dis-associate an file extension from a program

Initially I had a .dbf file with a generic(?) icon next to the name because
the extension had not been associated. I accidentally associated it with
Word. I need to dis-associate it so that when I capture screen shots for
training, the icon next to the file name is generic(?). How do I do this.
I'm using Windows XP Professional.

The same way you did the association, just choose the proper program this
time...and Always Open With.

It can also be done quite easily in the Control Panel "Folder Options"
snapplet.
