How do I determine whether or not SP2 is installed?

Funny, I don't remember downloading and installing SP2,
but windows update does not allow me to do so. Is there
any way of determining whether or not it is installed?

Hi:

Among others, two easy ways -

Right click My Computer, Properties, and see the general tag.

Also, go to Control Panel, Add or Remove Program, and scroll down to see if
it's registered there.

Hope this will help.

Yes, it did. The general tab says I have SP1, however when I update
windows, it does not seem to know that I do not have SP2 installed,
and thus will not allow me to download and install SP2. I am running
xp pro -- does that matter? Any suggestions?

Control Panel - System. If it is installed it will appear on the
General page

If you have broadband, I suggest downloading the whole 266MB SP2 "Network"
install package. If you don't have broadband, order the SP2 CD and you
should have it in a few days.
Links to both on my SP2 Page: http://jmfmvps.mvps.org/SP2.htm

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I am sorry for this late reply, but my computer
has been crashed since Friday. I did exactly that, downloaded the
network version, as I was instructed by Microsoft, and it crashed
completely my computer. It was just restored a few hours ago by a
microsoft tech. I am awaiting a callback from their research team to
try to find out why that happened and if it can be prevented in a
future install.
