How do I delete mess when Outlook shut down, " out of space "

MS Outlook ran out of space and now it somehow caused me to loose " Send/
Receive" and I am unable to recover old messages to delete them. Opening
Outlook shows " no messages to list" under all folder headings.
 
Can you be a little bit more specific about what "out of space" means?
Also, what Outlook version, what account type, and if you use a PST
file, what size is it?
