How do I delete listings in the address book that are no longer f.

I've tried to remove addresses that are no longer useful from my Outlook Mail
address book and they never seem to go away. When I click on them, I get a
message that they may have been deleted, etc and I should see the help file
telling me how to delete them but I can't find anything. So How do I get rid
of unwanted listings? Thanks for the help.
