how do i delete filename when file already deleted?

I already deleted an Excel file but the name of the file is still there. How
do I get rid of it?. It bothers me to see just the filename still there. Pls
reply. Thanks
 
Open more files to "push it off the list" Or change the number of files
listed (Tools, Options, General, Recent used....
