hi
i managed to locate 5 .tmp files under the folder 'application data' , 4
of which i manually deleted. i'm unable to delete the remaining file which
probably implies that its running.i've scanned the file for threats and it
appears to be clean.should i reboot my system and delete this file or is
there something else i must do instead?

there are many times that
when a program is actually
running and loaded into memory,
it will create a temp file.

these files cannot be deleted
until it's parent program is
closed.

an example is like when
you are looking at a webpage
in your broswers. that page
has been downloaded onto your
pc and stored in the internet temp
directory.

while that particular webpage is loaded
on your screen for viewing,
it's related files inside the temp
directory cannot be deleted, until
you are through looking at
the webpage and it is closed.

as a suggestion, if you are manually
deleting temp files, then you will
not do a good job of it.

you can use cleanmgr to do
the job more proficiently.

go to start, then run, then type
cleanmgr and press enter.

Having undeletable temp files because the file is open and in use is
normal.

You don't need to do anything. The files should get deleted the next
time you do it. No need to reboot now.
