How do I delete a recurring appointment that occurs forever?

In MS Office 2003 Outlook, I inadvertently created a 24 hour long
appointment that apparently occurs forever. I deleted the appointment, but
it didn't really get deleted. When looking at the calendar on that
appointment date, and forever more, the appointment appears to occur until
the end of time.......Help, I can't get rid of the darn thing!!

Did you delete a single occurrence or the entire series? You could always
open it and end the recurrence then delete it too.
