I am trying to access a Works file sent as an attachment but cannot read it.
There are no options in 'save as type' apart from 'all files'. Is there any
way to add other types to 'save as type'? I use Outlook 2000 for email and
am running Windows XP. The sender is unable to save file in any other
format, I opened the file in Word but although I can see page numbers the
text comes out as squares and symbols.

I'd have the sender save the document as an RTF file. I'm sure Works can do
that. You will then be able to open the RTF file in Word.

There are Works converters available for Office. See the download section
at http://office.microsoft.com/
