How do I decipher my own stored on CD document?

I copied my documents on a CD using Microsoft word version 6.0, now it will
not download on my computer except to be in a coded form and I am wondering
how I can decipher or retreive my documents?
 
I'd suggest asking this in a newsgroup related to Word.

This newsgroup is for questions about Access, the database product that's
part of Office Professional.
