how do i create links in MS word 2007

I'm trying to link several of the same words in a Word 2007 document so that
when one is updated they are all updated. How can I do this? Use to be easy
in 2003.
 
How did you do it in Word 2003? By bookmarking one of them and then
inserting cross references to the text of the bookmark?

That can still be done in Word 2007. Both the Insert Bookmark and Insert
Cross-reference facilities are included in the Links section of the Insert
Ribbon.

I did a cut and paste special and pasted as a link in the document. I can't
seem to do that in 2007.
 
You can do the same thing in Word 2007. Access the Paste Special dialog by
using the pulldown under Paste in the Clipboard section of the Home Ribbon
or use Ctrl+Alt+V to access it.

That seemed to work. Thanks. I don't know why but I couldn't get it to work
