How do I create a report template in Access 2007?

I have designed a report which is linked to an Excel 2007 spreadsheet (not a
whole worksheet) with data for the last financial year. I want to use the
same report design to link to an identical Excel spreadsheet which has data
for the coming financial year instead. However I cannot find a way to save
the report as a template. If I create a copy, I can view the dependancies
but not change them. If I create a new report, there is no option to use the
design of a previously saved report. This means I have to start from scratch
again which is very annoying and time consuming; and that's only once a
year...if I had to do this each month, it would just not be a viable option
to use at all! Any guidance or suggestions appreciate.

do you need to make a different copy of the report every year?

Normally; people just ust a parameter to allow you to filter for a
particular year... and then of course; you can use the same report to
filter for a day or a month-- if you just set the parameters correctly
