I know how to get the drop down box on my form, I just don't understand how
to input the choices so the drop down works like it's supposed to. I have
done this on InfoPath but I cannot embed it in an email other than an
attachment. I did a copy and paste of the drop down boxes I made in InfoPath
to Word and I can embed it into an email. The only thing with this is that
choices that are made on the form do not lock when placed in the email. I
don't understand the whole VBA part. I have been all over the internet
trying to find answers and came up with nothing. I would appreciate the help
from anyone who knows about this.
Thanks,
Scotty

Unprotect the form and double click the dropdown field. This opens
the FormField dialog box where you can set your dropdown entries.

What you're trying to accomplish isn't clear. Are you trying to send an email to
gather user input? In that case, ask in an Outlook newsgroup. There are no tools
inherent to Word that will let you design an email-form.

And be sure to mention the software version you're working with.

I'll start by saying that I don't know how to unprotect the form and that I
know how to get to the dialog box, I just don't know how to input the data in
a way that it is accepted and my drop down box functions correctly. I take
it that there are special codes or something I have to type in to get it to
work. thanks

cindy,
I have a word doc that I am trying to make easier and faster to use.
It is sent out in email form but not as an attachment. I just highlight and
copy the entire doc and paste it in the email. My problem is knowing how to
get my entries accepted into the drop down box. Are there special codes that
have to be applied along with the text that I want in my drop down?

A Word form cannot be sent in the body of an email, so you may as well give
up on that idea. From your other post, it sounds as if you may not have
protected the form to begin with. The dropdown will not function until the
form is protected.

Suzanne,
Thank you for your reply. A word form can be sent in the body of an
email, we do it everyday. At least I think thats what we are doing. Maybe
we are talking about two different things here.

Since neither plain text nor RTF supports fields, I don't see how you could
send an email containing form fields in the body of the message. From the
answer in another thread, I gather that Outlook supports some sort of form
fields; perhaps that's what you're using to send forms?
