how do i create a doc file extension for a cv im sending over the

how do i convert a CV in sending online for a job application from rich text
to a doc file extension
 
Word will open RTF files.
Open Word, File Open, change Files of type: to RTF, select the cv file.
Once open, Save As, change the Save as type to .doc.
Job done.
