How do I correct an application error in Outlook?

I recently downloaded Office XP SP2 and 3 and now find I'm experiencing
problems with my Outlook 2002. Sometimes, when I attempt to open an email,
my Outlook closes. I've received the following error: Outlook.exe - Appl
Error The instruction at "0x35169137" referenced memory at "0x05e53760" The
memory could not be "read".

Also my Norton Utilities finds 27 ActiveX errors, two of which reference the
following registries: \LocalSettings\WER21d0.dir00\Outlook.exe.mdmp AND
\LocalSettings|wer212do.dir00\appcompat.txt.

Please help!
Thank you

don't let Norton fix anything... it tends to screw things up. Try detect and
repair - it's on the help menu.

if that doesn't help, do the messages that cause this have anything in
common, like html formatting?

I've ran the Detect and Repair several times, but the problem continued.

Some of the errors have referenced html.

Could this be caused from using the wrong version of windows installer to
download the SPs? And how do I find out which version of installer I have?

The sp's shouldn't install if you have the wrong version of the installer.

What OS are you using? If winxp, copy one of the errors from the Event log
(control panel, admin tools) so we can see the complete error.

Open task manger and make sure outlook and word are closed when you
try -http://www.sunflowerhead.com/software/knockout will run in the ray so
you can see if both are closed.

The problem occurs when I attempt to open an email. Outlook stops
responding. I received another error this time:

So, Glenda.....

I have a user getting the same error message, the only thing different is
the codes...and the fact that my user has XP with Office 2003 at home, and NT
with Outlook 97 in the office, and he synchs at work and at home using a Palm
V...

Have you gotten an answer to your question yet?

Hi Ron. No, I haven't received an answer to the problem, and the problem
continues. I've noticed that every time I try to open an email with an
attachment, the Outlook "hangs" and becomes non-responsive.

Still looking for the resolve....
