How do I convert works file to excel without works software?

I received a copy of information needed in microsoft works file. Microsoft
works is not in my computer and I'd like to open in excel rather than having
to manually put data into my system. Under excel help it seems you have to
open in works and then save as excel file. Since works is not on my
computer, I can't open the file.

You need to get a hold of someone who has works and can save it in the
correct format or get a commercial converter
