How do I convert Word bullet points to plain text?

I have a document created using Word 2000 in which i have used bullet points
but now need to submit the document to a site that requires me to get rid of
all non-text characters so as to convert it all into plain text.

My questions :

1. how do i do that ?
2. how will i know that i have succeeded? ie what will plain text bullet
points look like compared to the original ?

thxs

Change the bullet format to include asterisks (say). Then save as plain
text (File | Save As), or select the whole document, copy and paste into
NotePad.

Thxs stefan: need it all spelt out im afraid: when you say "change... to
include asterisks.." do you mean delete bullet points and replace with
asterisks?

AND if i copy it into notepad what will the bullet points look like there?
this is effectively my second point, i.e.how do i know i have succeeded ie
what do plain text bullet points look like ?

thxs for bearing with me.

I meant that you should modify the bullets via Format | Bullets and
Numbering (or via Format | Style, Modify Style if they were applied with
styles). But if there are not so many bullets, you could just as well
replace them manually in a text editor such as NotePad.

What the bullets would look like in plain text format depends on the
chosen bullet; since text documents can only have a single font, the
bullet would be converted to the corresponding character in the
character set. To find out what *your* bullets look like, you could try
copying and pasting into NotePad.

By the way, have you considered asking the site what they recommend?

I hope that this clears things up a bit. If not, post back.
