How do I convert a scanned doc to word?

I would like to edit scan labels and mail merge to print on envelops. The
problem is the labels scanned as a picture and I cannot edit it.
 
You need OCR software to do this. You may have something suitable in the
software pack supplied with your scanner, ot you could try Microsoft Office
Document Imaging that comes with Word (Office Tools)..

My g'd -- I had no idea this came with Office! It looks far, far
better than the ISIS OCR that came with the HP all-in-one I got last
month.

How many more "unknown" features are lurking somewhere in Office?!?!

And now we return to our regularly scheduled discussions of Word
alone.
