How do I control Powerpoint Slide show with Projector Remote?

Is this a setting on the projector or in Powerpoint? I have a Sharp
Notevision A10X that says it has controls to go forward and backwords for
presentations.

Hi E,

The forward and backward functions do not appear to be supported in the user
manual I found on-line for this projector. Are you confident that this is
the correct remote for the projector? Anyway here is the basic run-down on
projector-based slide shows.

Most projectors will just display whatever is fed to them by the video input
(from a computer or a TV like video stream). There are some that can
capture several still images and display them sequentially as a 'slide show'
without a computer attached. Almost all of these will have some sort of
removable memory (USB, Smart Card, Flash Card, etc.) and offer little or no
additional support for transitions, animations, movies, sounds and the like.
Their idea of a slide show is just a series of still images. I do not think
your projector offers this option.

Most slide show remote controls have an interface with a computer that is
running the feed to the projector. This would probably mean a USB or other
external plug in device that receives the signal from the remote.

I think, to answer your question, that the forward and backward is a setting
on the projector, but refers only to the menu you are selecting from.

Of course I may be completely wrong. You could always talk with Sharp
customer service and see what they say about their projector.

Question about why an otherwise properly operating remote control would cease
working? I changed some slide transition settings and my remote will no
longer advance the show.

However, it works properly with other shows that appear to have similar
transition settings?

I'm running an Optoma projector with an Apple ibook and have had no problems
for months.

Is there a setting I'm missing that locks out the remote? Thanks everybody.
